Repairing bycast leather
Select the type of issue to be solved from the menu to find advice from Fenice experts and products most suited to the task.
With all leather-care products, remember to shake the bottle well before use (particularly in the case of pigments and dyes) and test all products on a hidden area before use.
Surface abrasions
- Use our Ultra Rapid Leather Cleaner
- Rinse with water and dry
- Apply Leather Glue WB, then let dry
If the repair isn’t satisfactory, proceed as follows:
- Apply multiple layers of Surface Repair
- Use Grain Copier on an area where the grain of the leather is well defined to copy it. Leave to dry for a few minutes.
- Warm the copy of the grain until you see a change in color. Immediately place the copy over the scratch and press down for 10 seconds. Let cool for 20 seconds before removing from the leather.
- Mix the colors and adjust the percentages as necessary in order to achieve the desired color. Test the color on a hidden area. Apply the touch-up and let dry.
- Apply the Bycast Top Finish, then dry.
Holes, cigarette burns
- Clean with Ultra Rapid Leather Cleaner
- Rinse with water and dry
- Fill most of the hole with a layer of Heat Repair and dry with a professional drier. Apply with a second layer until the hole is completely covered, but do not let dry.
- Apply Grain Copier onto an area where the grain of the leather is well defined to copy it. Leave to dry for a few minutes.
- Place the copy of the grain onto the second layer of Heat Repair. Place the Heat Paper Repair over the copy of the grain. Heat with the iron for 30 seconds in slow, circular motions and applying a slight pressure. Let cool for 1 minute
- Mix the Bycast Basecoat Colors and adjust the percentages as necessary in order to achieve the desired color. Test the color on a hidden area. Apply the color, then dry.
- Apply the Bycast Top Finish, then dry.
Deep cracks
- Clean with our Leather Cleaner
- Clean deeply with Deep Cleaner F
- Fill the crack with the Mender and leave to air dry for at least 4 hours
- When the product is completely dry, sand with 400 Sand Paper
- Remove the powdery residue with a damp cloth
- Spray the Bycast Basecoat Color onto the entire area to be treated
- Spray Bycast Top Finish, then dry.
Grease - Oil
- Clean with our Leather Cleaner and the white side of our dual-action sponge. Eliminate any residual dirt with water using the blue side of the dual-action sponge
- Spray on our Leather & Textile Degreaser, then let rest for at least four hours.
- Vacuum up the powder, then remove any remaining residue with a dry sponge. If the stain has not been fully removed, repeat steps 2 once without rubbing too hard.
- Clean again with our Leather Cleaner and the blue side of our dual-action sponge.
- Apply Leather Revive and dry.
If the spot has not been completely removed, proceed as follows:
- Clean deeply with Deep Cleaner F for Leather.
- Spray the Bycast Basecoat Color onto the entire area to be treated, then dry.
- Spray on the Bycast Top Finish, then dry.
Deep ink spots
- Remove the spot using our Ink Remover
- Clean with Ultra Rapid Leather Cleaner or Deep Cleaner F (as necessary)
- Rinse with water and dry.
- Apply Leather Revive, then dry.
If the spot has not been completely removed, proceed as follows:
- Mix the Bycast Basecoat Colors and adjust the percentages as necessary in order to achieve the desired color. Spray onto the surface, then dry.
- Spray on the Bycast Top Finish, then dry.
Fresh ink spots
- Remove the spot using our Ink Remover
- Clean with our Leather Cleaner
- Rinse with water
- Apply Leather Revive, then dry.
Mold
- Clean with Leather Cleaner and dry.
- Apply Mold Remover to a cloth and delicately rub the area to be treated.
- Repeat after 24 hours if necessary.
- Clean again using Leather Cleaner to remove any residue of Mold Remover.
- Apply Leather Protector with a cloth and rub lightly in circular motions.
- Leave to dry and buff with a cloth if desired
If the finish is damaged, execute the following steps:
- Clean deeply with Deep Cleaner F
- Spray a thin layer of Extra Adhesion onto the entire area to be treated
- Spray the Bycast Basecoat Color onto the entire area to be treated
- Spray Top Coat Gloss or Matte, depending on the amount of shine desired. To get the right texture and aroma, add either the Slip or Non-Slip feel modifier (FM), Eco-crosslinker, and the Leather Fragrance
Squeaky leather
- Clean with our Leather Cleaner
- Let air dry
- Apply Leather Revive
- Let air dry and buff with a cloth if desired
Dry, stiff leather
- Clean the leather with our Leather Cleaner and the white side of our dual-action sponge. Eliminate any residual dirt with water using the blue side of the dual-action sponge.
- Let air dry
- Apply Leather Revive
- Let air dry and buff with a cloth if desired
Spew
- Clean with our Leather Cleaner and let dry
- Apply Spew Remover to a cloth and delicately rub the area to be treated.
- Refresh the cloth frequently and always use a clean section of the cloth.
- Let rest for 24 hours, then repeat the process if necessary.
- Apply Leather Revive with a cloth and rub lightly in circular motions.
- Let dry, then lightly buff if desired.
Discoloration
- Clean with our Leather Cleaner
- Clean deeply with Deep Cleaner F for Leather
- Spray the Bycast Basecoat Color onto the entire area to be treate
- Spray on the Bycast Top Finish, then dry.
Cracking
- Clean with Ultra Rapid Leather Cleaner
- Spray the Bycast Basecoat Color onto the entire area to be treated, then dry.
- Spray Bycast Top Finish and dry
Old Stains
- Use our Ultra Rapid Leather Cleaner
- Rinse with water and dry.
- Apply Leather Revive, then dry.
Scratches
